Acting for the Screen - Jamison Jones

During this workshop, Jamison will discuss the principal differences between on-camera and theater acting, The business of acting, what to expect in audition situations and how best to prepare as well as introduction to acting as a profession. This is a workshop open to all, the aspiring writer, director, actor or the movie buff who is fascinated with the art/skill/craft/business of acting, live theater, movie making and television. Jamison is a classically trained actor who has found success in Theater, Film and Television. His deep understanding of the actors process and love of the art of acting have led him to the classroom where he has taught and directed for the past several years with the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. He has also taught at The Orange County High school of the Arts, The American Conservatory Theater, A Noise Within, and many other limited engagements workshops around the country As an actor, Jamison’s most recent film credits include The Lodger with Alfred Molina and He Was a Quiet Man, in which Jamison stars opposite William H. Macy and Christian Slater. He can also be seen in multiple episodes the hit TV series 24. Other film work includes Two:Thirteen, Destiny with Casper Van Dien and William Fortsythe, Water Under the Bridge, Radioland Murders, Dark Blue with Kurt Russell, Hollywood Homicide with Harrison Ford, and Actor and Producer credits for Gettin’ Lucky and West of Brooklyn with Joe Mantegna. Most recent theater appearances are Fool For Love at The Stella Adler Theater with Iconic film actor Geoffrey Lewis and critically acclaimed Thérèse Raquin at the Ensemble Theater in Santa Barbara. He also starred opposite General Hospital’s Tyler Christopher in the critically acclaimed Bent by Martin Sherman. He also performed in The Foreigner with the three time Tony-nominated producing team of McCoy/Rigby Entertainment at the La Mirada Theater for the Arts where he also starred in The Lion in Winter with Mariette Hartley, All My Sons, Dancing at Lughnasa and The Rainmaker. Other television appearances include Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Kamen Rider, 24, CSI: NY, N.C.I.S., Crossing Jordan, ALIAS, That 70’s Show, General Hospital, Strong Medicine, Beverly Hills 90210, The Division, Conan, Will & Grace and JAG. Jamison holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from The American Conservatory Theater and a Bachelor of Arts in Theater arts from California State University, Fullerton. Additional training at UCLA and Western Michigan University.
